Game Crashes after playing 1 or 2 hours

@Wells, did you get the crash.dmp or crash.zip? They’re in the same folder than the stonehearth.log.

You should be able to upload them by dragging them to the reply window or using the upload button.

I gave you permissions so that you can upload files now.

Are you using any mods? Could you upload your stonehearth.log too? (in case there’s something else besides those errors).

There is no crash.dmp or crash.zip in my game folder…
I tried disabling some of the mods but it crashes anyway.
My log file:
stonehearth.log (40.7 KB)

Thanks! Could you upload the savefile too?

  1. Find the save folder for the saves you wish to upload. By default, they are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install).
  2. Zip the folder.
    1. Right click the folder (should be named a long set of numbers).
    2. Left click on Send to in the menu that appears.
    3. Left click on `Compressed (Zipped) folder).
  3. (Optional) Rename the folder to something different than the default set of numbers.
  4. Upload the save.
    1. If the zip is less than 10 MB, you can upload it directly. Either use the upload button or drag and drop it into the compose window,
    2. If larger than 10 MB, upload it to a cloud storage site like Dropbox, Google Drive, File Dropper, etc. and post the sharing link here.

Thanks! It seems that the game crashes when the shepherd harvests the duck duck, yet it’s likely caused by all the errors. Not sure why the seasons didn’t load, I wonder if the auto save didn’t complete succesfully

I’m assuming this fix just happened today… because I had an update queued on steam, and once I got into the game i’m getting season error as well as a few others. I’m not getting the daily screen, the season/day shows on the top right, but when hovering over, it doesn’t tell me what season it’s on. When I click on my build button (which i have buildings still in progress), the templates usually appear on my land, but now they are completely gone. I’m trying to place a bed on a building that already has a floor, and by the time the hearthling gets to the spot to place it, they just drop it on the floor and the bed placement (the transparent bed showing where it’s going to be placed) disappears.

I don’t want to spam the 11 errors i’m getting, but since i’m a new user it won’t let me attached a txt file. The game was running without issues until whatever update happened today. I am also running the game with the “latest” build, off the properties tab, since I am using some templates from the steam workshop, and it was said that was the build to use in order to have them load properly.

Are you running with any mods?

Also, what build version does it say you have when you click on the About button on the title page?

The update shouldn’t have touched seasons so I’m guessing there’s a main error that may have set off a chain of errors. Can you upload the log file to Dropbox or google drive and send a link?

@Sumsum5513, I gave you permissions to upload.

Like Linda asked, could you check which version number are you running in the About button on the main menu?

If you could upload the savefile that’s giving errors, that’d be great. Instructions:

  1. Find the save folder for the saves you wish to upload. By default, they are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install).
  2. Zip the folder:
    1. Right click the folder (should be named a long set of numbers).
    2. Left click on Send to in the menu that appears.
    3. Left click on `Compressed (Zipped) folder).
    4. (Optional) Rename the folder to something different than the default set of numbers.

Which mods were you using? I wonder if your game didn’t update properly

Edit: moved your posts here as I think the errors are the same.

Do they happen in an autosave too? Or did you save manually?

what can i do? Is there any file that I should modify?

Also i have the same problem as @Sumsum5513 has. I can’t get townsfolk moving to my village, the daily screen with the food and the networth just doesn’t appear.

You could try pausing the game as soon as the game loads, and using the cancel tool over the duck duck so that it’s not harvested. But since the seasons didn’t load, it’s likely that you’ll get more errors as you keep playing, so I’m not sure if this savefile is saveable :disappointed_relieved:

The disappearing buildings are spooky.

Yeah, this is also due to the missing weather. One of the requirements is that you’re not in the titanstorm weather. Since it can’t check it, it fails and throws an error and the timer resets.

Hi… first of all thanks for replying so quickly, and I apologize I couldn’t get to my PC in time. I see you saw the error log already, so I won’t attach that.

Version says stonehearth 1.1.0 (release 937) x64 build
I do have “mods” but I believe they are just templates, and one of them is wheat seed. I’ve uploaded a screenshot of the mods, but it’s just

  • market place
  • Weavers Hut (Rayyas Children)
  • Wheat Seeds for Rayyas Children
  • Wini’s Stonehearth Templates

My game DOES autosave, but I also occasionally overwrite/hard save, specially after fights or events, and before logging off.

I am running the [latest] build minimally tested - the option under the Beta tab in steam. I did that because when i first started the game, because the templates weren’t showing in game, and after reading up I found i had to be in that build for steam workshop items to work? i’m not certain if this was true, but it happened to work for me.

I did try to start up the game several times, thinking that would “fix” the problem and realized that it was the same errors… it would give me the first 6 right away, and then as the day progressed in game, I started getting the remaining… and i’m sure the longer it progressed i’d get more.

I’m going to step out in a bit for part of the day, but if you need anything else from me, or for me to try anything, i’ll check back as soon as i can.

Thanks again

Hey @MorgothUK, did you use auto save or saved manually?

Initially i had auto save on, after this occurred i reverted to a manual save from 3 hours before, and then turned off auto saves, still happened.

Were you in the middle of editting any bulidings / were in build mode when this happened? Or did it happen in the background as buildings finished?

Summary:
My game started throwing exceptions (showing the LUA stack trace), and re-embarkment seems broken.
Everything I selected to take with me is gone, including my hearthlings, but I’m still stuck in my old town.
Trying to use the campaign browser in the debug tools doesn’t help and throws the same error over and over.

Opening the object browser shows “unknown game object”.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Load the save game and try to re-embark

Expected Results:
Triggers the re-embark.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens, error shows on screen.
