I just bought Stonehearth and I am having the "Stonehearth has stopped working issue on start-up. I tried everything from both topics (on steam and in here)

Versions and Mods:

No mods, last version from unstable branch.

System Information:

Windows 8.1, Nvidia GTX 970 (drivers updated)

Have you attempted basic troubleshooting steps here: http://discourse.stonehearth.net/t/crashing-on-start-read-this-updated-october-28/13297:

[Have you attempted all the steps detailed in linked post? Please do before posting!]

Notes:

[Any additional useful information]

Do you have any antivirus programs running? These are known to cause issues of the kind youā€™re experiencing.

As I said, I have tried everything from the multiple post about it. I only have Avast and I get the same error even without Avast (or windows Firewall) running.

Hi @Homard. Sorry youā€™re having trouble. Can you describe what happens when you launch the game? (e.g. black screen with music, window closes immediately without error message, etc).

When I launch the game I get a white screen in windowed mode with the message ā€œStonehearth has stopped workingā€ and then the game close. I donā€™t get any music but I have the Stonehearth (Grey?) cursor.

You might try resetting the Windows Firewall with these commands:

netsh advfirewall reset
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
netsh winsock reset

I had already try that but it didnā€™t help, and as previously said, I also tried to run it with both Avast and Windows Firewall off.

If youā€™re up for it, post the list of processes from Task Manager and we can see if anything looks suspicious.

Also, you could try running it using integrated graphics instead of the Nvidia card just to see if that works.

When I did the test I tried to shutdown as much app as possible, but for the moment here is the list:

Two two items that caught my attention were:
pnkbstra.exe
msi_trigger_service.exe

Iā€™m not sure if they could be a problem, but anything that monitors running programs or network traffic (usually for performance or security) would be suspects that could interfere with Stonehearth.

Didnā€™t helpā€¦ I will probably wait a bit so that the game development progress and there is less incompatibility issues, right now it feel like shooting in the dark

If you feel like shooting in the dark some more, you could try:
Toggling fullscreen / windowed mode
Running on the Intel graphics adapter

Otherwise, feel free to request a refund and tell them you couldnā€™t get the game to run.
