Can I only have 20 Hearthlings?

Hi,
I was wondering if I can only have 20 Hearthlings as since I reached that 20 I’ve stopped getting daily updates. Is this true?

There is a slider in the settings menu to get more. Beware, the game at this point in time gets much laggy. No fear though, the next update will be here to help that issue.
