New villager spawns in an inaccessible area

The game is in alpha, this is a bug that must be fixed
If no one reports it, it won’t be corrected

Just sayin’…
I understand that working hard makes you stink but that’s too much of a bath :stuck_out_tongue:
Btw I tried to tell him to dig in order to leave but he didn’t. And yeah, it just spawned here at morning as new toon and yeah, he doesn’t drown.

Not my fault the original thread was not in the bug reports category, and starting this thread off that one doesn’t allow category correction.

:stuck_out_tongue:

No problem. Paging @8BitCrab, need some categories changes…

sure it does, it’s just a matter of tricking it into submission …

Continuing the discussion from Hearthlings spawning underwater:

Quite a pain in the butt having to send someone out specifically to build not one, but two ladders to get the drowning hearthling out of the water, and even worse to have to wait up to a day of in-game time for them to path around the lake, find the ladders, and get out of the water.

If this had happened once in one game, I’d have considered it a fluke, but it’s a frequent problem with a base next to a very large lake (which has 14 Berry Bushes around it, a rabbit idol, and the perfect place to set up a farm). And seeing as it’s happened before to others, months ago, I thought I should point out that it hasn’t been fixed as of 2620.

Paging @Albert. This is still an issue in release 472, as well as whatever the latest internal build @Tom was using on Thursday nights stream, 11/12/15 when he encountered this bug.

I have had this happen a bunch of times in my latest town as well. Granted I made it on an island (first thing I build before the first day was up was a bridge to the mainland though). 4 or so of the hearthlings I got on the daily check spawned underwater.

It happens alot to me.I just pull out a ladder or build stairs into the underwater area and then save/reload.They come out easily enough.

Summary: Hearthlings spawn in the lake nearby my town.
2e09f2d4-fb51-11e4-9bc7-448a5b8ff7d2
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start game
  2. Select a region near a body of water
  3. Wait.

Expected Results: I expect to not have to build ladders into the bottom of a lake.

Actual Results: I have hearthlings at the bottom of a lake wanting to join my town.

Notes: Uh. This is pretty self explanatory.

That’s known and not resolved I guess.
You should build a ladder of course

Stonehearth 0.14.0 (develop 2807) x64 Alpha 14 unstable branch

This has been talked about before, hearthlings spawning in water and such. One of the latest hearthlings to spawn in my town appeared on an inaccessible ledge above water. I’ve never seen it before.

I had to build a ladder up from the water to get her down. Thought I’d share as a bug report.

I just got a new Hearthling and he spawned in a place that also spawned enemies ( or already had them there)…

I basically lost that Hearthling the moment I got it

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it was in an area were he could not escape because there was no ladders . he spawned in on a small hill area

Can confirm im getting strange spawns half way across the map, they are having to traverse past countless giant zombies and and Rock Golems xD

it would just be easier for them to spawn in were your banner is would it not be?

@Fralee, while I used to like the ā€œrandomnessā€ of Hearthling spawning, but I am starting to agree that it would be better (for many reasons) if they spawned at the banner like trading items do. Would solve a number of issues (spawning is places they can’t get to your town from, walking past enemies, massive pathfinding distances).

I had the same view. but now I have lost Hearthlings the moment they appeared because they appeared in a place they cant get aware from then monsters spawned killing my Hearthling

I never thought about the pathfinding issue but I have had new Hearthlings appear at the edge of the map and stand there for half a day ā€˜thinking’ what to do. then they run past a ton of items to the banner then to run back to the point they appeared to pick something they ran past. its a bit frustrating

Even though I have seen this happen plenty of times, I guess I am an odd one that really doesn’t mind. To me it is like a right of passage. If they need help I’ll do what I can, including building ladders.

Although I haven’t had too much trouble with them spawning, as most that walk through enemies have always survived so far. If one dies and leaves a grave I’ll just make a memorial in honor for their effort. The only spawn thing I really don’t like though is tree spawning; which I’ve only seen presented above in pics. I guess RC doesn’t have enough trees to worry too much on that one.

Regardless I would be fine either way; whether flag spawn or what it is now with minor changes. If I wanted them to be in a tree I would build a tree house… ><

Yes it’s not really a bug but much a easy way for us player. But it’s really fun to try to help him to come near our city
