Hello ! 
I was looking at the trees in my game and I thought why couldn’t we build some stuff directly in/on the trees ? I’m thinking about guard towers inside the trees where guards could watch for any foes. Of course, there are no guards yet or even in the future.
Other possibility: building a sort of platform stick to a cliff. You could access the platform by climbing a ladder.
Again, I don’t know if someone has already tried something like that but I find it fun and could complete a bit the castle style which consists of building stone towers or big walls. That’s quite big for skeletons or goblins isn’t it ?

i’m not sure about the first one (it used to be possible but may have changed) but the second idea should already be possible by using the “slabs” tool, or single blocks tool as its sometimes called.

Indeed for the 2nd idea ; I kinda did it. It makes a lot of ladders but with a little more imagination, it should look better

I like the idea of the tree house, it could make your town look more “quirky”. There could be large trees (like, I mean large!!) that you could build in!
I have built a house on top of a tree before [Alpha 12, I think, on a Large Oak], so I can confirm that it WAS possible. Whether or not it still is, I’m not sure. Will check and report as soon as possible.
It is certainly possible now but only by building yourself. I meant a tree house template but I don’t doubt anyone can make a large house on trees without problems
