Long-Term Forum Solution

definitely a good question for the team, but i would think that eventually the instance hosting this forum would be robust enough to house local images… whether thats the case now, im not sure…

for the time being, lets continue to host elsewhere, and link from here…

At one point when the forums were down I sent an email to the general contact about using S3 for image hosting, as the original issue seemed to be that the images were uploading to the actual primary server and causing issues. I dunno if that’s what they did, but if so you could probably expect to be able to upload images again soon.

As some have so eloquently put it, we should all move to Stonehearth Kingdom.

And that soon is now. Commence with the uploading!

As others have responded, Thank you, but I would prefer to stay with the developer supported solution, especially since it fulfills the discussion needs of the community, it is controlled by the developers, and is already the first location people will go to find out about the game and its community.

And while I admire any fan-made contributions to Stonehearth, I would wish those efforts didn’t fragment the community by duplicating functions already supplied through official channels. Stonehearth Kingdom was pitched to Radiant as the official forum, and if the developers chose not to accept the invitation, it is because they had something else in mind. We are seeing the results and they are adequate for my desires.

Warstories created a very smooth and pleasant-looking website, but I went, I saw, I did not wish to partake. Please stop telling me that I should stop supporting the official forum.

If the proprietors and backers of Stonehearth Kingdoms would like to use the site as an image repository to showcase their own and others Qubicle creations, and inform this community in an appropriate thread about such, I say, “Go for it.” It would be providing a real service about which Radiant Entertainment has made no provisions.

(Forgive me if that came over a little harsh, but I am tired of all the spam, it is the end of the day where I live, and I am hungry.)

EDIT: I have removed comments that may have been accusatory or inflammatory.

It was mentioned in the Pizza Party stream that they are running on the free tier of Amazon EC2. There was some mention of updating it, but we don’t really know what changes brought the stability we see now.

yes sir, i recall that… thats actually why i was curious… to see what kind of power we have under the hood now…

While I do agree on how my efforts on this forum may have come off as advertising Stonehearth Kingdom, I was lurking before I made an account (something I tend to do alot). Now, my hopes for Stonehearth Kingdom were not to replace the official forum, but to provide an outlet for Stonehearth fans to come and quench their thirst for the game, as well as provide downloads of user-submitted Qubicle Templates and Replicas (from the livestreams), and eventually Mods, Maps, what have you, on an easy to use interface without going to websites such as Mediafire. Like I said before, my hopes for Stonehearth Kingdom is that it will be used as an outlet for the sharing of creations through downloads alongside a forum. I one day wish that the folks at Team Radiant will browse Stonehearth Kingdom alongside their official forum, heck if they register and give me proof it is them in some way, shape, or form, I can give them a custom title on Kingdom so that it shows they are from Radiant. Anyways, I hope this has changed yourself and Team Radiant’s view on me and Stonehearth Kingdom as I have noticed a lack of posts or anything by them acknowledging it’s very existence (probably the way I have come off on this forum here). I do not wish for Team Radiant to view Stonehearth Kingdom in any bad light, or as a website run by someone who is spammy, advertise-y and doesn’t care for this wonderful community. Hopefully this changes your view on Stonehearth Kingdom and myself, and I hope to see you around Stonehearth Kingdom someday

@Warstories i cant speak for the masses, but i dont hold you or the site in a bad light… as someone who ran a massive fansite (years and years ago), i can appreciate the efforts you have taken, and i am sure the site will serve as another great resource for the community (no reason why they cant feed off eachother)…

i would imagine at some point, the main SH site will have a section housing links and/or descriptions for their (soon to be numerous) fansites…

Agreed. @Warstories your website isn’t bad at all, it’s just that at this early stage of development, where there isn’t that much content to share, and where all of those sharing needs are met by the primary website, yours can be seen as redundant and divisive. You don’t seem like a bad chap, and again, the website is quite nice, but if there was even one thing the community lacks as pertains to creations and mods, it’s a deviantart-style gallery of lua code and qubicle designs, not a forum. If you were to provide that, something which discourse isn’t so hot at, you’d be creating a new service not already provided, and the majority of the derision you are seeing would fade.

Just my thoughts, as it’s a long way to beta.

That is why I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I did this, too, before I started posting. I think perhaps your timing was easily misconstrued and Stonehearth Kindom’s supporters have been extra-zealous in recruiting. When someone suggested that we all move there after the forums here had been restored, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

I hope your site can find its niche in the community and I can see it being a great repository for images, mods, and such. As I said, it was very pleasant looking.

Sure we recommended Digital Ocean, and that’s where it is:

The $20/month plan seemed ample enough for a decent sized Discourse community!

Seems snazzy! I approve of this message.

This “official forum” is by far the worst forum I have ever used. Stonehearth Kingdom is, in every way, superior and should be the official forum. If the developers refuse to support it, I will crusade for it until they do. I will e-mail them constantly. I will spread Kingdom propaganda. I will point out the numerous flaws in every forum Radiant. If you want to call me rude and forceful, go ahead, it would be the truth. I’ve been civil on the internet for too long.

Let the record show that the Kingdom website does not endorse this.

I mean, @UlyssesKnapse, we appreciate it, but please don’t try to force it down people’s throats.

I’ve never forced anything down anyone’s throat. I’ve only shown to them the error of their ways and provide them with an alternative. The aggressiveness in my statement was half-joking, anyway.

A little bit arrogant.

Just let it work out. There isn’t much use for anything more than a forum right now. And doing this will only drive people away. Please don’t.

Yay! I can return to the forums again. Thank you Team Radiant and the people at Discourse for getting the forums all sorted out. I don’t think anyone expected the overwhelming support for Stonehearth so early on so hiccups like these are bound to happen in the beginning. I wish you guys all the best in getting Stonehearth fully operational.

a sure fire way to lose any and all credit for your opinions here and elsewhere… please, i urge you to reconsider… this is no way to create a supportive community…
