Assertion Error? (Corrupted Save)

I hope i’m putting this in the right place where it will be noticed. So I have played StoneHearth for a good 35 hours so far and now when I try to enter my saved world it goes to a black screen instead of the loading screen and a message pops up that says “Assertion Error” and then forces me to exit the game. I looked at other posts on this site and did as they said (updating graphics drivers etc.) but they didn’t work. (Perhaps because the posts were from Alpha 15/16). One of the posts even had the same laptop as me (Toshiba Satellite) and I did as it said and it still didn’t work. Even uninstalled then reinstalled. Please help!

Hi there @JsCollege, can you upload your save so we can rule out potential corruption?

To upload a save, locate the folder in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install), zip the individual save’s folder (not the entire saved_games folder), and upload it. If the *.zip is less than 10 MB, feel free to upload it directly to the Discourse. If larger, please upload it to a cloud storage site like Dropbox, Google Drive, File Dropper, etc. and post the sharing link here.

I hope this is it

Is this the error you are seeing?

If so, I’m getting it too when loading the save up. Would like another @moderators to confirm if possible, but it looks like something corrupted this save. Do you have an earlier save you can try?

Yeah I manually save pretty much every time log off. That is the message i get when i try to log on. I could log a previous save but its a few hours of progress behind that and if there is anything to save it that would be amazing! Do you know if I went and played my last save that this would happen again anyway?

Actually never mind! There was an auto save 30 seconds before that one and it isn’t corrupted  thank you so much! Is there anything i can do to prevent this in the future?

@jomaxro yep, it’s definitely giving an error for me as well.

awesome to hear that you had another recent save!

but come to think of it, in the past i’ve had saves get corrupted when the game had auto-saved just a few seconds before i manually saved… perhaps there’s more to that then i originally thought…

The savefile is corrupted (I didn’t load it, but the server.bin and client.bin have a size of 0KB, and the screenshot itself is corrupt. Looks like it didn’t finish saving.

Not really, as Relyss said it tends to happen when something interrupts the saving itself - very rare issue (at least that we get reported).
