Welcome to the forum, @fcwolfg :slightly_smiling_face:

Is this the first time you try to run the game, or have you been able to play it in the past?

Did you try doing a clean reinstall (deleting manually the Stonehearth folder - backing up previous savefiles and templates first - and then reinstalling via Steam)?

Which antiviruses/firewall do you have? Did you try adding an exception for the game in them?

What do your user_settings.json look like? It is a text file inside the Stonehearth folder, you can get there by right clicking Stonehearth in your Steam library, clicking on Properties, Local Files tab, then in ‘Browse local files’.

No I’ve been playing since the first Alpha release. This is the first time I’m having a major error.

I have tried a clean reinstall, now instead i have a white screen that’s not responding.

Windows Defender, and Stonehearth is allowed on my firewall.

:thinking: could you try these one by one and check whether/which one of them works?:

  • Add an exception in Windows Defender to the Stonehearth.exe and crash_reporter.exe files (make sure it says “Process” and not “File”, apparently with files it doesn’t help much) :

I am not sure what you are showing me in that image.

Nevermind I got it, trying now.

Solved the issue, no room on PC, when i updated the drivers there was no room left on my computer. Sorry for the bother. Have a nice day.

Back again, freed 1/3rd of computer memory (of 2tb) and its started up again black screening on start up. I am nearing my wits end with this.

Even with no mods, the unstable version, drivers up-to-date, and having added exceptions for the game to your antivirus? :thinking: What about forcing 32-bit in the user_setting.json?

What does your stonehearth.log say this time? Let it play for at least 2 minutes just to see if it gets to the radiant logo or the main menu (or does it still hang and not recover?).

My user_settings says:
{
“user_id” : “dede1541-516f-4d25-b303-4654e4eb12bf”,
“multiplayer” : {
“server” : {

}
}
}

The stonehearth log says:

Sorry for the late reply, work/school takes priority over games sadly.

I am having the same problem, yesterday I could completely play the game, I was experiencing lag so I restarted the game and got a black screen, I got the game to load once and made the mistake of closing the game to see if the problem was fixed, it wasn’t fixed I had just gotten lucky. I’m on my second reinstall.I have no steam workshop mods, just the automatic downloaded ones.
