[Res] Won't even start up!

Well, so simply put… Each time I have tried to play the game it appears in my background Processes but gets no further than that before vanishing entirely!

I have ensured that all of my drives are up to date, well, I used an autodetector but I am sure it is correct as I have tried to ensure it is…

I have tried to find a solution but after three hours I have given up and settled for screaming for help!! I am dearly inlove with the concept of this game and I am very eager to play it, so please help!

Hi there @Apothecary, welcome to Stonehearth Discourse!

Are you launching the game through Steam?

I have tried launching it through steam, through the folder (Both 32 and 64)

If I understand your post right, the game isn’t launching at all (apart from appearing in the processes)?
I’ve found that sometimes if a game doesn’t launch properly from Steam, it’s worth trying to verify the game cache:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?s=b3d20c61421a9ccb7b8c0bb056915dc3&ref=2037-QEUH-3335

If that doesn’t work then I think it might be an issue for Stonehearth support staff

The steam message “Preparing to launch Stonehearth” appears before vanishing, steam says I am “In game” but the game does not appear or load and vanishes from my background processes.

This article might help with troubleshooting: Games do not run after 'Preparing to Launch' - Errors and Crashes - Knowledge Base - Steam Support

I know it’s a pain, but it’s worth trying these things so you can get playin’!

I will update windows tomorrow, but the rest of the steps mentioned I have taken, I have ensured all my drivers are updated… Is there anything I should be looking out for?

Updating Windows have helped before, but that was for people with Windows 7 without SP 1. So I’m unsure how much it would help in this case. Still, it’s a good place to start.

You also might want to check out this page since there’s some info there on crashing on startup.

Good luck and do let us know how it went!

Alright, so I have re-updated my drivers and have checked my windows version… Everything is golden there. I have also removed Bonjour from my computer…

Reinstalled, Verified and restarted… Still no change. Crash dump:

Newest update:

I have disabled all of my Chrome extensions, still no luck…

All drivers have now been re-updated (I put the updates back ontop of themselves)…

Made sure it would start in windowed mode by editing the file…

Still no luck!

Hi @Apothecary - Sorry you’re having trouble! If you upload your crash.dmp file, I might be able to find out what’s going wrong.

crash.txt (58.7 KB)

I hope the format hasn’t messed it up… but… here you go.

Yeah, couldn’t read the file. Can you zip crash.dmp and upload?

Already tried and it doesn’t work, I can’t seem to upload .ZIPs and .Rars

“Sorry, the file you are trying to upload is not authorized (authorized extension: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .txt, .csv, .log, .obj, .qmo, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .xml, .evtx, .qcp, .qcm, .qb, .lua).”

If you have Dropbox or Google Drive you could always upload it there and drop a link to it here.

Ok, the error was that Stoneheath was unable to open a server port to communicate with the client. Are you running any unusual firewall software or anything that blocks ports/sockets on the machine?

I run Norton 360, perhaps this is an issue?

Could be. Only one way to find out!
