**Summary:** Noticing the alternation of rows with and without crops planted on them in the farms, I wondered what would happen if you would make several farms one wide next to each other. Trying this, I found that all rows would be planted with crops this way in one orientation; alternated as usual in the other orientation. This by itself seems a bit of an exploit already, and perhaps it could be that the game detects whichever dimension is only one long/wide and then alternates along the other direction. For those players really desperate to take advantage of this exploit by making 1x1 farms in a grid, perhaps such farms could then be entirely without crops (only furrows).

However, there was then another issue with the 2x2 farm where a single corner was skipped, and an error message was thrown. When I went back to do this over later (see the shorter video under Attachments), they skipped a corner again, but I got no error message, and a farmer came back shortly after to add that last corner.

All in all, perhaps a number of issues, but very related, and I wouldn’t know how to split them up anyway, so they end up in this single report.

**Steps to reproduce:** Make (fallow) farms which are 1 wide/long in at least one dimension.

**Attachments:**
18:02—originally I did not try both dimensions; for that, see the second video.

**Versions and mods:** No mods, latest release version in Steam at the time of writing, version 0.1.0 (release 122) according to the title screen.

Hmm. I wonder if farm plots shouldn’t always be made in multiples of 2 - that way, every row of crops must come with a furrow (currently, odd numbers of columns avoid this), and it’ll help avoid any minimum farm size issues if you physically can’t make it smaller than 2x2 (or 4x2 or whatever Radiant want the smallest farm size to be).

Kinda why my OCD only allows me to make 7x7 or 7x14 farm plots. xD

Well, in that case you would just have to enforce this limitation on one of the dimensions (the one along which the alternation between furrows and regular dirt occurs). It could work, but I prefer my original suggestion of the game figuring out the optimal dimension along which to place furrows (probably only of issue if you have a length of 1 along one of the dimensions), and then having only furrow when you do 1x1. It’s slightly trickier, but that would still allow for more freedom with the farm placement. And I can imagine players getting confused/frustrated when the farm plot designation tool skips every other tile (might feel like a sensitivity issue).

Eh, I feel that might just be a case of giving the player more/better information - maybe not ideal, but I think it would make it less exploitative.

True, but my solution also fixes the exploit, right? I don’t know, I suppose either one would work, but my slight preference for the one I proposed remains.

Farms should turn their alternating rows to the longest dimension (7x14 would break)
but it would fix 1 wide strip farms… then there should be a minimum size of farm so you don’t just make a lot of 1x1 plots.

You’re welcome to make 1x1 farms! We are all in support of mosaic-tile flower farms, if that’s your thing. If you just want to drag it out and forget about it, then you can use the tool to make bigger farms. Sure, you’ll have those middle rows, but who knows, maybe one day they’ll be useful for irrigation.

OK, so I will mark this a not a bug!
