I was thinking of having a separate job for a Hearthling that incorporates the basic things from other Crafters. Sometimes, I would like to see my Carpenter / Potter focus on crafting furniture and parts while an “Apprentice” focus on crafting Firewood / Clay Bricks respectively.

While I think that promoting another Hearthling to become a 2nd Carpenter or Potter etc. could be another way to approach this, I find that making job talismans for every time I want to switch that 2nd Hearthling to another job a hassle. Secondly, it would probably be better if the said 2nd Hearthling to help other crafters as well rather than sticking with only one main crafter. With that said, I’d like to explain further with a level system:

**Level 1:** The Apprentice can assist the Carpenter / Potter by **making Firewood/Clay Bricks**. I kinda explained this in the first paragraph so yeah.

**Level 2** : The Apprentice can assist the Weaver / Blacksmith by **making spinnable twines** from grass / **making charcoal**. Same idea from the first. Apprentice helps speed up the other crafters by making strings ready for the Weaver and Charcoal for the Blacksmith.

**Level 3** : The Apprentice can assist the Cook / Shepherd by **prepping cooking ingredients**. This is where the idea actually popped up from. I saw that the Cook had so much prep work to make meals with that it would probably be better if he had some sort of a “Prep Cook” or something. In this level, the Assistant can do basic tasks such as **milling flour, make baskets of raw food and prep ingredients** such as **condiments, pickles, cooking oil, etc**.. I also put the Shepherd here because I think they’re closely linked with the Cook due to the milk, butter, mayo and whatnot.

**Level 4** : The Apprentice can now **repair Training Dummies**. The Idea here was to learn some skills from the Engineer but with his total list of recipes being so few and needs an actual Engineer’s skill, I thought of the repair ability. But I realized that the Carpenter does that too, albeit at a slower pace. So I thought of giving the Apprentice this skill, with the excuse that the Apprentice spent enough time with the Carpenter / Potter that he can now fix Training Dummies. Maybe a bit faster than his supposed “Master” but at a speed that still can’t beat an Engineer.

**Level 5** : The Apprentice can now help the Herbalist by **crafting Dirt** and **help tend planters**. With another hand on tending planters, the Herbalist can now focus on making tonics and healing items. I am also thinking of letting the Apprentice be able to tend to flower fields made by the Farmer but I am currently not too familiar with the flower fields.

**Level 6:** The Apprentice can now help the Brewer by **prepping unfermented liquids** for vinegar, **toasting grains** and **doing the serving kegs and pitchers**. The Brewer can now focus on making drinks while the Apprentice can now store all those drinks in serving kegs and pitchers. I initially thought of incorporating all the Brewer’s ingredient refinement and preparation tabs but I thought it was too much so I settled for making vinegar and prepping different kinds of malted grains.

Maybe a Level 7??: The Apprentice can now craft _“blue-level” quality items_. I am not too sure with this one. I also forgot the term for the “blue” work quality. Maybe he spent enough time with the masters that he can now create items up to that quality but he still cannot beat the crafters’ level of work so all he can do is up to “blue” level.

Maybe somewhere along those levels, the Apprentice can also make piles of materials so that the crafters can’t be bothered with crafting material piles anymore.

I can’t think of anything for the Mason yet but I may add as soon as an idea pops up.

I wrote all of this on the off-chance that, somewhere in this forum, an aspiring modder might need an idea or two. Or maybe, in the future that I may have learned coding, learned how to mod the game and have the spirit to do all of it, I may make it myself.

Edit: some highlighting and adding words.
