Subj. My suggestion is twofold.
- Make Loot command “tolerant” to changes of height around it (allowing to cross through several levels higher/lower than current one, up to a certain limit). Will make it much more useful when items are at a “stepped” terrain.
- make Loot command work inside buildings (especially elevated buildings and buildings with several floors).
Currently it can only work on ground level.

Definitely needs to work better with buildings. I’m not sure if it’s even possible to have tools work on multiple layers right now, but that would be pretty nice as well - just don’t know if it’s really worth the time.
But thinking about it, the looting tool definitely needs an update. I just leave auto-loot on because I got so annoyed at having to select everything - I’d always end up missing stuff - but then my stupid Hearthlings walk over during battle and then realize they shouldn’t have walked over once they get close to enemies.
Really, I’m not sure the loot tool’s a particularly good solution at all. Just highlighting drops better would help. But just taking ownership of drops after combat ended would be much nicer as a player than the point-and-click find-the-hidden-item I find myself going through now, which the loot tool really can’t avoid. Of course, that might not work well for multi-player, and the game’s a poor judge of when combat’s happening.
