# Experience Lost when Promote

A year ago when I played, experience gained was retained when switching between jobs. Now in the Alpha 22, it appears that I can gain 5/6ths of a level in x class, switch to another class and when I switch back to the original class, I have 0 experience.Unsure if this intended.

**Steps to reproduce:**

1. Promote to Footman when enemies come
2. Attack stuff
3. Notice the experience gained from the Character Sheet
4. Switch to Herbalist
5. Switch back to Footman
6. Notice that there is 0 exp in the Character Sheet

**Expected Results:**  
Experience used to be retained when switching between jobs.

**Actual Results:**  
Experience is lost when switching jobs

**Version Number and Mods in use:**  
release 726. No mods

It is intended, and it is exactly to avoid this kinda of behavior where you just keep switching, making the classes less meaningful and easier.

Yep, it is working as intended. Only “whole” levels are preserved, not the exp gained between them.
