Crash on startup with OpenGL error

Summary:
hello all, I’ve got this error when installing the game on a new computer.
Thanks for any help you can give.

windows error popup asking to update my drivers in order to support OpenGL which seems weird to me because I run on a Geforce 1050 with the latest game-ready drivers

don’t have any crash dump file

Versions and Mods:

I’m on the latest minimally tested update channel with no mods activated exept if the A.C.E has been enabled

System Information:

I5 8th generation, 8g ram, GTX1050 2g vram, laptop display 14 inch
game is forced to use the nvidia card, i set it in nvidia control panel

Are you certain the drivers are up to date

Regardless of what is set in the nvidia control panel, the error suggests that it’s trying to use a different graphics device. My memory is fuzzy now, but Selecting monitor at 990, 570 may also mean that it’s trying to use a screen other than the primary one. Try switching to/from fullscreen or resetting window/screen location to 0 by editing user_settings.json (search around the forum for examples).

Ok thanks a lot, I will try those solutions. yeah I’m sure that my nvidia drivers are up to date:

maybe it’s selecting the screen pad of my Asus laptop as a monitor  I will try deactivating it while launching the game

ok, I’ve found the error apparently :slightly_smiling_face:

the virtual gc used by the philips ambilight system

was taking over my nvidia GC apparently causing the window generation error.
the solution was to disable the gc when starting the game and once it started re-enable it
thanks again for the help hope this will help others.
