You could try restoring to the most recent System Restore Point before the issues started.

might as well, ive got one from 24th of june, should be far enough back.
Iā€™ll let you know how that went, praying to the onmisiah right now and sacrificing a gerbilā€¦

I have one radical advice, lets try to update system to win10 xD

Iā€™d rather burn it to the ground and reinstall win 7 than touch win ten with a ten foot poleā€¦ Sorry :ā€™)

Why? Isnā€™t Win10 just Win7 better and updated?

No it an auto updating(which you canā€™t turn off) piece of spy ware littered with advertisements that occasionally breaks itsself and undoes settings you make, or blatantly lies to you about your own settings. And I havenā€™t really found any reason to ā€œupgradeā€ to it yet. It does nothing win 7 canā€™t do (but this is getting a bit off topic, currently waiting for system restore)
edit: and ofcourse the system restore flunks out on me because i forgot that when m pc software-reboots my tv doesnt recognise it anymoreā€¦ you know what, operation clean sweep will be done when im back from holiday. full system reinstall. survive that, bug.

if anyone has any other ideas in the mean while, im open to any and all hair brain schemes that might fix it.

Far from judging, but to be honest pretty much every windows after XP can be called ā€œan auto-updating piece of spyware (ā€¦) that blatantly lies to you about your own settingsā€ :joy:

If anything, Windows 10 is the one that AT LEAST actually lets you (finally) see, deactivate or control what is being monitored and received. And is also improved, safer and more stable than Win7. After updates and a lot of uproar, it offers a lot of control and settings on terms of information that come activated by default, yes (always cheating on the average user) but you can easily tweak if you know what youā€™re doing

Be it 10 or 7, if you really worry about these things just get a linux distro, otherwise it makes no sense to avoid W10 over W7 :stuck_out_tongue:

Thatā€™s just my opinion, of course :merry:

btw my video driver is NVIDIA 398.36 but yours is 372
Are you sure that using the last one?

no but i went back one for that test, currently mine is 398.36 aswell, still crashes.
also tried removing ALL c++ redistributables that were on my pc, which were like, 20 from all the way back in 2005 till present. still the same error.

its getting to the point where i expect a clean install of windows will be neededā€¦even though i dont consciusly see anything wrong. can someone ā€œdonateā€ me their config file? so i can see if i can use your settings to change mine? (or a few different ones, for instance a windowed one etc.

Silly question, do you have service pack 1 installed, right? Though itā€™s so strange that it stopped working just so suddenly.

Any recent windows updates? Probably not that, either

nope. those are off in my case @ windows updates. so thats not it either

Service pack 1 is required for running the game in Windows 7, afaik.
