# Black Screen on start-up

I made a mod that adds a new ore. I know it works because I had it running in the Stonehearth zip mod folder but when I copied the code to he mod folder I get a black screen on start-up

I didn’t remove it from the Stonehearth mod zip folder so it may be because there is overlapping files and code but i’m not sure.

BTW this is my first time modding and I can’t code so I have no idea why this isn’t working.

Making the mod standalone (in it’s on folder) is a little harder than just putting it straight into the stonehearth folder.

Yes, it might have to do with the conflicting code. You should delete it from the stonehearth folder, and see what happens.

Are they any errors or is it straight black screen?

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth and look in the file called “stonehearth.log”. Hopefully it will mention what’s wrong, and from there we can start fixing it.

nope just a totally blank screen but I will check that file.

Much Appreciated.

So, right off the bat, the manifest in your mod should not have all of the stuff in the main stonehearth manifest. You should rename it (in the manifest, by name). Then, get rid of everything that’s not related to the thing’s you’ve changed. That’s probably why there’s a black screen.

Probably best to make a manifest from scratch and only add what you need, instead of trying to delete everything you don’t.

Ok, I got sucked in to fixing it, lol.

Works like a charm now. The drop\_table is set to 5000 for stone, so you’ll probably want to change it. I just set it there so I could be sure one dropped.

Compare the one you uploaded to mine to see the differences.
