Archipelago Biome mod 🏝️ (better fishing and expanded campaign)


Hi everyone. This adds a new biome to your game. The biome is Archipelago, which means ocean with many islands!

Here’s what you will see in it.

Mini map, choosing the start location:


New class: Fisher

  • Low tier class, promoted using a Bucket talisman, crafted by the Carpenter
  • It will work in other biomes too! (Though with less features when outside the Archipelago)
  • Aside from fishing can also capture crabs.
  • Only hearthling that can harvest oysters and get their pearls.
  • Also the only one able to harvest seaweed.
  • Can help with early game crafting fish based food and weapons.
  • Can craft fish or pearl containers required in seed trades.

New vegetation and its items

  • Palm trees: can be harvest for coconuts. Can also be chopped for wood.
  • Papaya trees: like the palm, can be harvested for papaya fruits, and then chopped for wood.
  • Dranden and Smalea trees: Big and small trees found in this biome, main wood source.
  • Oak and Acacia recolor: will have colors similar to the native plants.
  • If you have the Cafe Mod, coconuts will satiate the hearthlings thirsty, a feature added by that mod.

Beach and Ocean

  • Crabs and turtles: peaceful ambient mobs.
  • Starfish: just decoration, can be moved around, has no other purpose.
  • Broken boats: wrecked boats with treasures. Can be harvested for its wood and some gold and silver.
  • Oysters: big shells. Can be harvested for pearls, by a fisher only.
  • Seaweed: underwater plants. Can be harvested for fiber, by a fisher only.
  • Waves: ambient effect at the beach shores.

Custom goblins

  • Accessories: workers will wear beach visors, flower crowns or swimming caps.
  • Tents: made from native materials
  • Camp: stockpile filled with coconuts, decorated with sandcastle.
  • Beach ball: item only found in their camps, can be looted.

New monsters

  • Cocoling: a monster coconut. Starter mob, weak.
  • Octopus: has close and ranged attacks. Medium strength.

Custom campaigns

  • Old default campaigns: most are edited to better fit within the biome theme.
  • New campaigns: Discover the misteries of the biome and its inhabitants.

New recipes

  • blacksmith_menu_icon Blacksmith
    Anchor. Decoration placed on the ground or walls.

  • carpenter_menu_icon Carpenter
    Raft: Decorative, will float above the water.
    Tiki torch: Decorative and gives a warm light.
    Ship wheel: Just decorative.

  • cook Cook
    Fish Stew. Cooked food.
    Cooked Fish. Cooked food.
    Crab Omelette. Cooked food.
    Crab Cake. Cooked food.
    Coconut container: Decorative and requested by seed traders (instead of other plants)

  • engineer_menu_icon Engineer
    Cocobombs: Will explode when an enemy attacks it, hurting enemies around it, and also adding slowness and fire.

  • farmerLv2 Farmer
    Palm tree saplings: Not really a recipe, it is a new crop.

  • fisher_menu_icon Fisher
    Dock. A small wooden platform used to fish.
    Fish rack. Input container. Store and display your fish.
    Crab trap. Will attract (or spawn if none is near) and capture crabs near it.
    Sashimi. Raw food. Only way to eat fish without cooking it.
    Fish container. Decorative and requested by seed traders (instead of other plants)
    Pearl container. Decorative and requested by seed traders (instead of other plants)
    Slap fish. A fish used as a sword weapon. +11 attack, for footman.
    Crab pincer. Crab pincer, also a weapon, wear like a glove. +12 attack, for footman.

  • herbalist_menu_icon Herbalist
    Flower garland. A flower decoration to hang on the walls.

  • potter_menu_icon Potter
    Sand castle: Just decorative.

  • weaver_menu_icon Weaver
    Hammock. Another “bed” to sleep.
    Pirate flag: Just decorative.

  • Sand colors: you can build with the same color from the sand, using clay.

Great!!! I have add it to my German Translation and my list :smiley:

But i think cactus and acacia doesnt fit to tropical :wink: so perhaps a new trees like palms?


I’m not a 3d modeler, so I just used what I had already in game. (We have a palm tree in the game files, but we agreed that we can’t use unreleased content in our mods, I think the images used are already stretching too much that rule, even if heavy edited)

What I did with the flora was ignore the name acacia (which would never be in those biomes) and focus more into the looks, there is plenty of trees that look like that in those kind of islands, cactus are common too. It really depends on how you imagine it :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there a way to traverse islands without building giant bridges?


Archipelagoes are one of my favorite terrain features ever. I love playing on them in Civ for all the naval warfare options, and in Minecraft for the building inspiration, and…

Glad to see I can soon add Stonehearth to that list.

Nope :stuck_out_tongue: You can use ladders, or maybe if you have talent and enough patience some kind of ship or port connecting both sides…

Having naval technology would be nice in this map.

I noticed a rather large bug where workers get stuck in walls… a lot. Dunno if its pathfinding or the generation :frowning: It happens occasionally in the desert but way less often.
