Archer / Cleric Experience gain issues

Summary:

Archer and Cleric Classes do not gain experience from the death of a monster unless they are standing virtually on top of the enemy when it dies.

The Cleric will not gain experience when casting healing spells during battles on wounded ally. Cleric seems to only gain experience when standing near an enemy when it dies.

Archer does not gain experience unless she is standing virtually on top of a enemy when it dies. (Similar to the cleric issue, proximity EXP gain on mob death). Further, it does not seem that she gains exp when killing a mob from ranged correctly.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Aggro something nasty.
  2. Put your cleric to max range she can cast healing spells then just have her heal. Watch her xp. It will not rise when shes healing or after the mob dies. You can use these sames steps for the archer.
  3. For comparison, place both the archer and the cleric near enemy’s who are about to die and watch them both gain xp.

Expected Results:

Cleric and archer are supporting front line fighters. Both classes should gain XP equal to what others gain who are near enemy’s when they die.

Actual Results:

Neither Cleric or Archer gain experience when standing at max range despite supporting the fight.

Notes:

Archer, and Cleric are pretty cool. Great work so far. Really enjoying your game.

hey there @Saltz, welcome to the discourse

thanks for the report, not sure who to page for Exp stuff, so i’ll page @sdee

no worry’s, though for future reference, Stonehearth does have a built in screenshot function, to take a screenshot simply hit PrtScn, and then go to this file path,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\screenshots

and any screenshots you’ve taken should be there.

hope that helps

Thanks! I found the screenshots. Will upload in a moment.

I tried uploading the pictures but its telling me new people can only post a single picture on posts. So I tired to upload only one. I am being told by a pop up that I cannot upload more than one picture despite only trying to upload one picture. Regardless, it should be pretty easy to reproduce with the steps listed above. Best of luck.

oh, sorry, i forgot about the limits of TL0, i’ve bumped you up to TL1 so you should be able to upload them now.

indeed, so pictures probably wont actually be necessary.

Thanks for reporting! This stems from (as you may have guessed) the distance clerics and (in particular) archers have from enemies during combat. We’re adjusting and will include a fix in the (hopefully) next release.

Thanks for catching this! Archers (and clerics near the monster or hearthling killing the monster) will now get xp from the monster they were attacking/targeting. Clerics also now get xp for casting healing spells.
