So I was looking at the settings for games and what do you think we should go with? My idea was total kill, no upgrades/strategy, 3k start, full map, extra cities. Get maximum power but a slower start due to not being able to choose the really big countries. Although @Swift_Cube set the turn limit for the current game as 50 it seems so it shouldn’t be too much longer.
Well, I like all of that, but I’d still rather have strategies in place.
And Whole World with Extra Cities? Geez, man, you’re just ASKING for a time-waster. Not that I dislike the idea; I love it. Just be prepared to use a lot of time playing.
Strategies was more because I’m pretty sure that most of us have very little experience and was along the lines of no upgrades of evening the playing field. I have no actual experience of war for example and consequently no idea which one is best long term. As for length, I like Iron Helmet games, this should be a walk in the park in comparison, for reference my first game which was shorter than normal took a fortnight. On that topic though how about a game of Neptune’s Pride or Blight of the Immortals?
If you are worried about me having more experience than you guys, don’t worry. I’ve only played 1 game so far (not including Swift’s game), so I’m not entirely sure what’s best yet either.
And yeah, I think that we can combat some of the massive expansion that I like to undergo if we play with 2-3 countries each.
@Swift_Cube there’s a password now? I can’t get into the game to do my turn!
Guys, do you want me to start up a new game? Eurasia & Africa, 2 starting countries, with strategies? I can do it tomorrow at about 4 PM GMT-5. I only need one other person in game so I can start one up and keep it on hold until more people join up.
I just decided to go ahead and start one, I’m leaving my computer open so you’ve got 48hrs to join if you want to make it in for the first turn. atWar World, Total Kill, 5k start, no upgrades. Go nuts, let’s see if we can’t make it interesting, really all we need is a decent tech and diplomacy system and we’re halfway to a successful form of the map game. Food for thought.
@ManOfRet, I wouldn’t be able to help then. I’m not entirely sure when then is but I’m pretty sure it’s like 5-6AM here. Stupid dateline timezone interference.
EDIT: Is anyone actually going to join? Because it’s approaching 12 hours now and if no one is I’ll just end it. @Swift_Cube@ManOfRet@Heilari
@Xavion Here I come! Again, though, school. I’m basically stuck with no computer access for 18 hours a day, sometimes more, so it may take some time for me to respond to some things.
With that said… GERMANY! (What can I say, they are literally in a perfect position to do war from (surrounded by small countries, gateway to the relatively open Eastern Europe, access to the Mediterranean, and, IRL, they are an economic and industrial powerhouse.))
EDIT: Actually, crap. I didn’t actually realize that countries cost money to acquire… Oh well, Germany will be mine in time.
So I’m going to go ahead and start the game. People can still join you’ll just be a little behind depending on long you wait. I’m also setting the turn timer back down to 12 hours but tell me if you have a problem with that and we can see about increasing it, it’s just that this needs every chance it can get to go quickly I figure as it’s going to be long.
@Xavion Oh no, I’ll have to miss a few turns, then. I won’t be here for most of tomorrow (Eastern American Time), and most school days, I don’t have enough time to play more than once per day.
I can set it 24hrs then? I have to wait until next turn it seems to change it anyway.
EDIT: @Smokestacks, did you realise you never submitted a turn in the game? Because you didn’t and the timer’s starting to get a lot lower. An hour and a half left to be accurate.
