Eventually I’m going to have start designing cities and a world for this game to take place in.
So I decided to get doors working today.

Got some nice little windows for my humble abode

I’m playing around with sailing atm… For bigger future impact.

I didn’t make the boat, it was straight up ripped out of Trove(only using it for testing)

Some sailing mechanics

I’ve spent the past couple hours fixing the melee combat cause it was a little… weird ( hit detection wasn’t hitting always).

I’m wondering if I should make a demo build for anyone who wants to just walk around and play with things I have up to this point… The game is far from a game but I really wanna make sure the mechanics aren’t clunky as of now.

There might not be many picture updates up in the next few days. Trying to get multiplayer to work properly before I carry on.

Yay 2 windows, 2 diff characters

Your really working at a blaring pace! Very impressive.

I think I’m going to be putting mutliplayer on hold at the moment because it’ll push the possible release date back by months. I really want a solid single player experience then add a possible multiplayer. Probably similar mindset that Team Radiant has with StoneHearth.

The game looks great, and I can’t wait to see how you develop your game’s single player backstory/lore. Also are you going to do randomly generated towns or preset ones? Also may I ask what game engine are you using? Sorry for the load of questions, but such great screenshots has me wondering! :grinning:

Yeah, I’ll answer them all.

Backstory/lore- I’m thinking of going a survival RPG-ish kind of hard to explain but a bit of a mix between Don’t Starve and Islet Online(if you’ve heard of it). The story behind it I don’t have a solid answer at this time.

Generic Rundown of the Game/story- You’re a young boy/girl that has just reached the coming of age for your village, and you’re tasked with going out on your own and becoming an adult. The game starts with you exiting the village gates and them being shut behind you. Outside the village is hostile terrain where monsters lie, you are left to take care of yourself and weather any obstacle that may come your way.

Difficulty- The game will be made to be HARD although I may add difficulty settings in the future (easy/normal/hard/brutal/lmao good luck). The only time you will be able to save the game is if you return to your village or find a village that you can pay ‘rent’ to spend the night in. If you die your save is gone and you can only have 1 of the current game. I might make this only on normal mode and above to give people a chance to learn the game on easy mode.

Randomly Generated towns/Preset- This is a toss up for me, since I do not plan to have destructible ground(like mining dirt minecraft style) I’m not entirely sure if the pros of Randomly generated are enough to go that route. Although they do add an extra element of a new game everytime you play. Although I do plan to have a rather extensively large world and the place you spawn maybe randomized I’m still looking into it.

Non-Destructible Ground- The reason I really don’t wanna go this route is because it will take away from the intended difficulty of the game. If a player can just dig themselves a hidey hole until dawn breaks why bother having dangerous monsters come out at night? There will be trees, bushes, plants, ore veins to gather resources in the game but the ground/terrain itself will not be modifiable.

Engine-I am using unity 5 mostly due to the constraints of this being a solo project. Although I do have a pre-existing homemade engine from my days in college I don’t think I really wanna worry about fixing something I know aren’t great there. Basically the tech i’m using is unity 5 for the engine, Maya to do all the animations for the game, Qubicle to make all the models, and gimp2 to make any 2d assets atm.

I can answer any other questions anyone may have.

I am currently working on the day-night cycle aspect off the game.

amazing! thanks for the quick responses, if you want any ideas or input on anything, don’t be afraid to ask!

No problem, I would love to hear any input/ideas anyone might have.

Possible new mob, not sure if I’m satisfied with it at the moment…

perhaps try making the tongue smaller?

No, I wanted that aspect in the game. They’re supposed to be seen as a threat.

That’s kind of what I was going for!

Is there anyway (in other words is it easy enough) to make their tongues go in and out. That would be hilarious if you could.
